U.S. Military Deaths in Action in Iraq Reach 2,000, Army Says
It's the Fourth of July, our nation's Independence Day. However, casualties continue to mount in U.S. operations. We receive difficult news that U.S. military deaths in Iraq by hostile action have reached 2,000, and U.S. military deaths total 2,530 by all causes as of June 30.

July 4 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. military deaths in action in Iraq reached 2,000, three years and two months after President George W. Bush declared an end to major combat operations in the country following the March 2003 invasion to topple Saddam Hussein.
American military deaths since the invasion, including Department of Defense civilian contractors, were 2,530 by 10 a.m. on June 30, the Department of Defense's latest tally says on its Web site. Of those, 2,000 were killed in action and the rest died in accidents or from medical reasons not related to fighting...
